Bear River Institute and Utah State have combined resources to create an
opportunity which we are particulary proud of. These programs range in length
from 21 to 46 days and are taking students to some of the most interesting
an insightful places on the planet. With programs in Nepal and Peru we are
under way with what we feel is an opportunity for students to view their
world and themselves in a whole new light. From village homestays in Nepal
to tours of the Amazon in Peru we feel these are experiences that can engage
and inspire students to a broader level of understanding of their world
and their opportunities in it. Call us or write for more information. |

Our
academic program in Peru provides a diverse and rigorous immersion into
Peruvian culture. Every aspect of traveling abroad is multi-dimensional
and incorporates a broad spectrum of disciplines and experiences. Our program
emphasizes this by focusing on ecology, history, geology, biology, anthropology,
archaeology and economics. The program begins with an intensive study of
the Spanish language, history and contemporary culture of the Cusco region
while living with a host family. The home stay provides a unique opportunity
to gain insights to their local culture, and as importantly, close friendships
with our wonderful host families. This is often the most rewarding part
of the study abroad experience. We have a variety of enthusiastic Spanish
teachers enabling students with different backgrounds in the Spanish language
to remain challenged by the classes. We also touch on the basics of Quechua,
the language indigenous to the Peruvian Andes. The staggering ecological
diversity of Peru, ranging from the tropical rainforests of the Amazon to
the glacial mountains of the Andes, has spawned equally contrasting and
fascinating variations. During their travels students will interact with
people throughout this broad cultural spectrum, from the rainforests of
the Manu Bio Reserve in the Amazon to the mountainous highlands leading
to Machu Picchu. The development of this program has been inspiring, and
we are eager to share our research with students looking to broaden their
horizons and experience an entirely different world. TripCost:TBA (including
